Easy Healthy Homemade Ginger Ale Recipe & Video

Ginger ale is an easy healthy soda you can make at home with little effort. You make it with fresh ginger extract and you can also control the sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 200 g fresh ginger
  • 800 ml water
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • cold club soda or sparkling water as needed

Instructions

  • Thinly slice the ginger.
  • Place the ginger and water into a saucepan/pot.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce the heat and let the ginger simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Pour the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl.
  • To make the syrup, place the ginger syrup back into the saucepan then add the sugar.
  • Bring to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Set it aside and let the ginger syrup cool.
  • Add lemon or lime juice and honey then mix well.
  • Serve it by mixing ¼ cup of syrup and ¾ cup of club soda or sparkling water.
  • Serve over ice.
